Blueland was featured on Season 11 of Shark Tank in 2019. Our Co-Founder and CEO, Sarah Paiji Yoo, appeared alongside Chief Innovation Officer Syed Naqvi to pitch a bold mission: reduce single-use plastic waste by reimagining everyday cleaning products. Their pitch caught the attention of Kevin O'Leary (aka Mr. Wonderful), who offered $270,000 for 3% of the company and a $0.50 royalty until his investment was repaid.

That deal helped bring Blueland’s line of plastic-free, refillable cleaning products into the spotlight—and marked the beginning of a fast-growing movement in sustainable home care.

What Happened After Shark Tank?

Since that episode aired, Blueland has launched over 10 innovative products, including:

Each product was designed to eliminate plastic packaging while maintaining powerful cleaning performance. Today, you can find Blueland in major retailers like Target, Costco, The Container Store, and Erewhon, as well as online at Blueland.com.

Does Blueland Still Work with Kevin O’Leary?

Yes! While Kevin is not involved in Blueland’s day-to-day operations, Sarah still works closely with him. He continues to support the brand and occasionally appears on Blueland’s social channels.

Explore the history of plastic, the life cycle of plastics, and the environmental impact of single-use packaging.

How Successful Has Blueland Been Since Shark Tank?

Since appearing on Shark Tank, Blueland has experienced rapid growth and helped shape a new category in sustainable cleaning. We were the first to bring refillable cleaning tablets to market and now hold over 40 patents. One of our products is purchased every 17 seconds, reflecting the growing demand for eco-friendly alternatives and our commitment to making sustainable choices more accessible.

What Certifications Does Blueland Hold?

Our products also meet standards set by EPA Safer Choice, Made Safe, USDA BioPreferred, EWG Verified, and Leaping Bunny, ensuring they’re formulated with safer ingredients and never tested on animals.

How Is Blueland Changing the Cleaning Industry?

Blueland is rethinking how cleaning products are made, used, and packaged. We launched with a mission to eliminate single-use plastic and have since led the charge in developing refillable cleaning solutions. In 2023, we took our impact a step further by launching the Pods are Plastic campaign—a formal petition to the EPA calling for research into the environmental effects of plastic-wrapped laundry and dishwasher pods. Through innovation and advocacy, we’re working to shift the cleaning industry toward a more sustainable, plastic-free future.
