What Is A Certified B Corp?
A Certified B Corp is a company that has gone through the assessment process with B Corp and met the highest standards of “verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy”. B Corp businesses balance purpose with profit, helping create better and more sustainable business practices.
How Does A Company Get B Corp Certified?
To achieve a B Corp Certification businesses go through a rigorous application and audit process, where B Corp evaluates the company’s entire social and environmental practices. There are three core areas that B Corps are evaluated against:
- Impact score: companies have to meet a minimum threshold on the B Corp Impact test that evaluates companies on their impact on the environment, their employees, their customers and community.
- Commitment to transparency: Certified B Corps share transparency reports to ensure accountability.
- Legal requirements: B Corps have certain legal requirements that allow them to maintain commitments to their missions as they grow and scale.
