What Does Blueland's Leaping Bunny Certification Mean?

We know that there are a lot of different safety and environmental certifications out there. But at Blueland, we worked very hard to make sure our products received a very important one: Leaping Bunny Certified! But what exactly does that mean? Well, we’re here to explain how a company gets this certification, what it takes, and how this affects you and our products!
What Is The Leaping Bunny Program?
During the 90’s, ‘cruelty-free’ became a popular term. But it was also confusing. Many companies were using their own definitions of “cruelty-free” or “animal friendly”, and the guidelines of animal protection groups were often ignored.
In response, eight national animal rights organizations came together to form the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics. The CCIC promotes a single comprehensive standard and internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo, and they work with companies to help make animal-friendly shopping easier and more trustworthy.
The groups in the coalition are American Anti-Vivisection Society, Animal Alliance of Canada, Beauty Without Cruelty USA, Doris Day Animal League, Human Society of Canada, Human Society of the United States, New England Anti-Vivisection Society, and the National Anti-Vivisection Society.
What Does It Take To Be Leaping Bunny Certified?
Any company seeking the Leaping Bunny logo on their products must satisfy the following the requirements
1. The company does not test, and is not party to any testing of any products or ingredients on animals.
2. The company does not purchase any ingredients or materials from a third party that uses animal testing in any way
3. The company must disclose all of its product ingredients, third party manufacturers, and suppliers for review by the CCIC
4. The company must allow the CCIC to keep all of this information on file, and must recommit to these standards annually.
If you’re interested in a more comprehensive list of specific and legal requirements, check out the CCIC’s full requirements page.
