If you’ve been on blueland.com recently (or picked up refills at your local retailer), you might’ve noticed something a little different about your usual Blueland go-tos. Something…fresher? Easier on the eyes? More confident, even? But if you haven’t spotted it yet, allow us the honor of officially introducing you to the new Blueland!
Inside? The same powerful, 100% plastic-free formulas you know and love. Outside? The future of cleaner cleaning: resealable and industrially compostable pouches, plus a brand new look.
Starting with “Why?”
At Blueland, our mission isn’t a tagline—it’s our standard. Every decision runs through it. Which is why the first question we ask is always: why? Why a brand refresh? Why now?
For starters, we know that sustainability requires higher standards year after year, and we’re committed to continually raising the bar—from the manufacturers we partner with to the materials we use. We originally designed our compostable paper pouches around our refillable Forever Tins—they were intentionally tear-away because their job was to refill the tin.
As we grow, we are committed to continuously assessing our packaging system, evolving as necessary to provide more sustainable and more convenient options. We’re also always taking into account the experience of our customers, many of whom wanted a way to use their Blueland tablets without the need for a Forever Tin.
That’s why, in 2026 after years of feedback, evaluation, and innovation, we’ve expanded upon our current packaging system. So, without further ado, let’s get to know the resealable pouch.
Our Latest Innovation: The New Resealable Pouch
Featuring a new plant-based zipper and standing bottom, our new pouches are fully resealable and can sit upright on both your shelves at home and retail shelves—making them more convenient and overall easier to choose. No Forever Tin necessary, but just as sustainable!
Like our existing wrappers and pouches, every part of our resealable pouch is industrially compostable—yes, even the zipper! We evaluate compostability using globally recognized standards, via third-party labs, including ASTM D6400 and EN 13432. Both of these standards evaluate across four areas: biodegradation, degradation, eco-toxicity, and heavy metals.
You can locate an industrial composting site near you or email us at help@blueland.com. If your area doesn’t have an industrial composting option, we can set up a return of your empty pouches for you! Once we have them back, we’ll handle their proper return to a trusted industrial composting facility. Our team is always standing by to help!

What About Tins?
Our Forever Tins are made from durable, sustainable steel that’s infinitely recyclable and meant to be reused forever. While steel can be a great material for reusable objects, like water bottles and mugs, producing steel tins actually has higher emissions than making compostable paper pouches—even those with a zipper.
Additionally, as Blueland grew, especially in retail, we heard several different preferences. Some people wanted a tin, and some wanted to use their own container. Some wished they could simply use the pouch on its own. So we spent years working on something we couldn’t find anywhere else—a resealable pouch that you can still industrially compost.
On the flip side, our new resealable pouches do use slightly more material than our original tear-away pouches. At the end of the day, there isn’t a single perfect answer.
However, by introducing our new resealable pouches, we can give more households the opportunity to try Blueland without compromising on experience or performance. And if you happen to love the look and convenience of your Forever Tins—don’t worry! We'll continue to offer them in designs that reflect our updated brand identity.
Behind the New Look
We also see this bolder refresh as a big step toward making the sustainable option more eye-catching, informative and appealing than ever before, for those who’ve been with us from the beginning to those who are just seeing us for the very first time. If more people see us, more people know about us, and more people will have the opportunity to make the switch. That means even more households moving away from conventional, plastic-wrapped cleaning and embracing safer, 100% plastic-free formulas in better-for-planet packaging.
You might already be familiar with our circular half-round symbol. Well, we’ve moved it to center stage. It nods to the plastic-free tablet we’re known for and includes a horizon line—where sea meets sky—a reminder of the plastic-free future we’re working toward.
To follow suit, we’ve also given the rest of our packaging a thoughtful refresh with brighter hues and bolder images to better convey both a powerful clean that stands up to conventional cleaning products as well as the inherent optimism of our mission.
In the Meantime…
For the sake of sustainability, we’re going to continue to ship any existing packaging inventory in order to minimize waste. So, for the time being, you might receive products in our former packaging. In some cases, you might even receive an order, for example, in which your Toilet Bowl Cleaner Tablets are in our prior packaging while your Laundry Detergent Tablets are in the new resealable pouch.
As always, we’re eager to hear your thoughts and we’re standing by if you have any questions. Email us at help@blueland.com if there’s anything you’d like to share.
Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve recently upgraded our packaging to resealable paper pouches that are industrially compostable with a bolder, updated design in our continued efforts to make the sustainable option more accessible and appealing than ever before. Our hope is that this will make it even easier for more households to move away from conventional, plastic-wrapped cleaning and embrace safer, 100% plastic-free formulas in more sustainable packaging.
All of our formulas remain 100% plastic-free and our wrappers and pouches are industrially compostable, featuring a paper exterior with an interior made of PLA (a renewable, plant-based material made from natural resources rather than petroleum).
We will still offer our refillable Forever Tins for those who prefer them for their look and convenience.
At Blueland, our mission has always been about reducing our reliance on single-use plastics and exposure to microplastics. Refillable products are an important step on that journey, but they can be less convenient and aren’t always appealing to every home. And while steel can be a great material for reusable objects, like reusable water bottles and mugs, producing steel tins has higher emissions than making compostable paper pouches and are best used by people who are committed to sticking with a refill system. By introducing our new resealable pouches, we can provide a lower footprint option without compromising on performance.
For the sake of sustainability, we will continue to ship any existing packaging inventory in order to minimize waste. For the time being, you may receive products in our former packaging. In some cases, you might even receive a mix of new and prior packaging. In due time, you’ll notice everything switch over to the new packaging. We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this shift!
Yes! All elements of the new resealable pouches are industrially-compostable, even the plant-based zipper.
We evaluate compostability using globally recognized standards, via third-party labs, including ASTM D6400 and EN 13432. These standards both evaluate across four areas: biodegradation, degradation, eco-toxicity, and heavy metals. The PLA has been independently reviewed and certified as industrially compostable, specifically meeting the EN13432 standard, and is certified DIN EN 13432 for Compostable intermediates.
At Blueland , we are committed to creating high-quality content you can trust on the topics you and your family care about.
