Plastic was meant to last forever, but most is only used once.
8 billion tons of plastic trash - that iced coffee you had last week, that toothbrush you used when you were 4 - are still on the planet.
And It Has Toxic Effects on Everyone
We're eating + drinking plastic.
90% of the water we drink and 75% of the fish we eat contains microplastics and it’s leading to serious health problems.
We're harming our animals + sea creatures.
Plastic has been found in 100% of marine turtles, 59% of whales, 36% of seals and 40% of seabird species examined.
We're polluting our oceans.
By 2050 scientists predict that the ocean will contain more plastic by weight than fish. Good luck finding Nemo then.
At Blueland, cleaning up our planet starts with cleaning our homes.
Starting with cleaning products - items traditionally sold in disposable plastic bottles, we can eliminate over 100 billion single-use plastic bottles in the US alone because our cleaners live in 100% reusable bottles.
Next? We’re innovation-driven and on a mission to reimagine all categories of household packaged goods with innovative form factors and environmentally responsible packaging.
And It All Started With One Home
My journey to use less single use plastic began when I became a new mom. I was horrified to learn that all the plastic I was throwing away was contaminating our water supply and generating hundreds of microplastics in the water and food I was feeding my baby.
I wanted to do my part to help, but it was impossible to find household products like window cleaner, lotion, and toothpaste that didn’t come packaged in plastic.
I founded Blueland with the belief that we shouldn’t have to sacrifice a clean home for a clean planet. Our mission is simple, make being eco easy with innovative products in reusable packaging that are convenient, effective and affordable.
I hope you’ll join us as we clean up the planet!
