For years, our community has loved our Laundry Detergent Tablets for their powerful clean, easy-to-use format, and sensitive-skin-friendly formula.

But as laundry habits evolved, so have the laundry challenges people face.

From sweaty workout clothes and collar rings to musty towels and body odor, our customers were dealing with tougher stains and stubborn smells. 

So we took their feedback, went to the lab, and spent years formulating and testing to create our most powerful formula yet: PowerDuo Laundry Tablets. 

Learning From Our Original Laundry Tablets

When we launched our Laundry Detergent Tablets, our goal was simple: offer an effective laundry detergent without unnecessary plastic waste.

Over time, we continued improving the formula while gathering feedback from customers about their toughest laundry challenges. One theme appeared again and again: tricky stains and stubborn odors.

While some everyday stains are easy to spot and treat, certain stains—like oil, sweat, and body grime—are much more difficult to remove. Odors are particularly tough, especially sweat, body oils, and everyday grime that can become trapped within fabric fibers, making your clothes feel and smell less fresh even after washing.

We also wanted to improve stain-fighting performance for activewear, and everyday messes.The challenge was finding a way to tackle both.

Why We Didn’t Just Add More Ingredients

When developing a new laundry formula, adding more ingredients isn’t always the answer.

Stains and odors are fundamentally different cleaning challenges, and they often require different technologies to address them effectively. Instead of simply increasing ingredient levels, our formulation team explored a different approach: creating a dual-layer tablet with each layer serving a distinct purpose. From there, PowerDuo was born.

Creating Our First Dual-Layer Tablet

PowerDuo features two distinct layers designed to work together during the wash cycle.

• Powered by 4 enzymes, the blue layer contains the same patented stain-fighting formula as Blueland’s standard Laundry Detergent Tablet—proven to break down stubborn stains from red sauce and coffee to armpit stains and collar rings. 

• The white layer eliminates odors at the source, from sweat and body grime to smoke and pet smells.

Like all Blueland laundry detergents, PowerDuo is hypoallergenic and formulated safe for sensitive skin. It’s also EPA Safer Choice Certified, meaning every ingredient has been evaluated against rigorous standards for human health and environmental safety.

PowerDuo is made without phosphates, parabens, bleach, or petroleum-based ingredients. It’s also, as always, a 100% plastic-free tablet. Because we believe a powerful clean shouldn’t require compromising on the ingredients you bring into your home.
