At Blueland, we work hard to choose ingredients that are good for you and the planet. We kept our standards high and only chose ingredients that could meet those standards, allowing us to create products that are people-friendly and effective. We know ingredient labels can be confusing, so we’ve broken down everything you need to know about what we put in our products and what we keep out!

Blueland’s Clean Ingredients

We’ve received the Platinum Material Health Certificate from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute for our 3 cleaning sprays, hand soap, powder dish soap, dishwasher tablets, and laundry tablets; the USDA BioPreferred certification for our 3 cleaning sprays, powder dish soap, dishwasher tablets, and laundry tablets; EPA Safer Choice certification for our 3 cleaning sprays and dishwasher tablets; Leaping Bunny (cruelty free) certification for all of our products; and our dishwasher tablets are the first and currently, the only dishwasher detergent that is EWG verified.

Vegan, Non-GMO, Nut, Soy And Gluten-Free Sourced Ingredients

We want to make sure our products can be used by as many people as possible. That is why we source our formulas from vegan and non-GMO ingredients. In addition, we source from nut, soy and gluten-free ingredients.

Blueland’s Certifications

Cradle To Cradle

We have Cradle to Cradle Platinum Material Health Certificates for our 3 cleaning sprays, hand soap, dishwasher tablets, and laundry tablets. We worked with Cradle to Cradle from the beginning to optimize our products for the health of people and the planet. We achieved the highest Material Health Rating as a result. We have high standards.

Leaping Bunny Certified

All of our products are Leaping Bunny Certified cruelty-free. This means that we do not test our products on animals, and no animals harmed in the making of any of our products.

USDA BioPreferred

Our Cleaners are USDA BioPreferred, which means our products are derived from natural ingredients or renewable sources. We’re proud to say that our Multi-Surface, Glass + Mirror and Bathroom cleaning tablets are 74%, 68% and 71% bio-based, respectively, our Foaming Hand Soap tablets are 61% bio-based, our Powder Dish Soap is 96% bio-based, our Dishwasher tablets are 98% bio-based and our Laundry tablets are 96% bio-based.

Our Clean Ingredients, What We Said No To

No Parabens

are a group of chemicals used as preservatives in home and personal care products. Typically, parabens are used to increase the shelf-life of a product. However, parabens have been associated with health risks, as they can act as hormone disruptors. We’ve excluded parabens from all of our products.

No VOCs

Our products don’t contain any volatile organic chemicals (VOCs). VOCs are a group of chemicals that are often found in cleaning products. However, some VOCs are linked to short- and long-term health effects, ranging from headaches to more severe side effects. We’ve excluded all VOCs from our products.

No Triclosan

Our products don’t contain any triclosan. Triclosan is used as an antibacterial agent and is often found in antibacterial cleaners and soaps. There are environmental and health concerns related to triclosan. Triclosan can be toxic in certain aquatic environments and poses a specific threat to certain species of algae. In addition, like other antibacterial agents, triclosan is associated with concerns over creating an environment for drug-resistant bacteria. These concerns have an impact on both individual and public health. The FDA has stated there is no clear benefit to adding triclosan to soaps. In addition, studies show non-antibacterial soaps and cleaners are just as effective as antibacterial soaps and cleaners. As such, we have excluded triclosan from our products.

No Ammonia

is a popular ingredient in household cleaners. However, ammonia is linked to negative health and environmental impacts. In small concentrations, ammonia can cause, eye and nose irritation, and if ingested can cause more serious damage. In addition, ammonia can pollute water and air, harming our environment. At Blueland, we keep ammonia out of our products!

No Phthalates

are a group of chemicals that are commonly found in household products. However, some types of phthalates have been linked to health concerns. Certain chemicals within the phthalate group are known to be endocrine hormone disruptors and have been linked to digestive health problems. We do not include any chemicals in the phthalate group in our products.

No Known Allergens

Our products are all made without any known allergens. In cases where the naturally occurring version of an ingredient contains known allergens, we opted for a safe synthetic alternative. This allows us to continue to provide the highest quality of ingredients for you and the planet.

We created all of our products with high standards. We’re proud of the ingredients we chose and we continuously work to optimize our products for the health of homes and the planet.
